Tap Portugal Diversifies Latin America Network With Links To Star Alliance Hubs Bogota & Panama City

Bogota and Panama City, which will be served in atriangle routing from Jul-2014, are also strategically important for TAP asthey will diversify its Latin America network. TAP is the fifth largest carrier in the Europe-Latin America market but currently 12 of its 13 Latin American destinations are in Brazil . TAP recently opened ticket sales for Bogota and Panama City, which will expand the carriers long-haul network from 16 to 18 destinations. TAP will operate from 1-Jul-2014four weekly flights on a Lisbon -Bogota-Panama City routing with A330-200s. TAP currently uses its widebody fleet, which consists of 12 A330-200s and four A340-300s, to serve 12 destinations in Brazil, Caracas in Venezuela , Luanda in Angola , Maputo in Mozambique and New York ( Newark ) and Miami in the US . Bogota and Panama City will be the first destinations which are combined in a single flight.

Jutting into the Gulf of Panama on the Pacific side, the district sits on a peninsula chosen for defense against pirates. Panama City revival

Retirement in Panama is Getting Better

Growth was also boosted by the ongoing construction and development of a $6.2 billion copper mine on the country's Atlantic coast, helping to expand the mining industry by a third for the quarter. Expected to become one of the world's biggest open-pit copper developments and Panama's biggest source of exports, the mine's first shipments are due in 2016, according to Minera Panama, a subsidiary of Canada's First Quantum Minerals Ltd . Logistical and transportation services linked to the canal have expanded over the past six years as Panama has positioned itself as a regional hub. Growth in the transport and communications industry accelerated 11 percent in the third quarter, the agency said. One of the fastest-growing economies in the world, Panama mostly evaded the global recession, expanding by double-digits for four of the past six years. But growth, while still high, is expected to slow slightly. Panama's Economy Ministry expects overall growth of 8.5 percent in 2013, while the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America predicts annual growth of 7.5 percent.
