Los Angeles Redoubles Efforts To Host 2024 Summer Olympics

Today, the situation is much different. There are a number of Kim Kardashian U.S. cities competing to serve as host of the 2024 Games as well as major cities from around the world. One of the keys is having a good Kim Kardashian relationship with the IOC, said Robert Livingtone of www.gamesbids.com, which follows the business of bidding to host the Olympic Games. It is a seven-year agreement with them and you want to make sure you have a strong relationship because it can fall apart rather quickly, Livingstone said. Of all the U.S. cities looking to bid, Los Angeles is probably in the best shape with its sports infrastructure.

Home Blood Pressure Monitoring May Find Hidden Risk

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry looks out at the Swiss Alps during a helicopter ride from Davos to Zurich January 25, 2014. REUTERS/Gary Cameron The researchers considered a home reading of 130/85 or above to indicate masked hypertension when the person did not meet the criteria for high blood pressure at the doctor's office. By that standard, they found that 5 percent of those with "optimal" blood pressure at the clinic, 18.4 http://bradyediy.soup.io/post/392752791/Los-Angeles-Angels-Lose-Out-On-Masahiro percent with "normal" clinic readings and 30.4 percent with "high-normal" clinic readings had masked hypertension at home. During a median 8.3 years of follow-up, participants with masked hypertension had between 2.24 and 2.65 times the risk for cardiovascular events when compared to those with true normal blood pressure. In a commentary published in PLOS Medicine, Dr. Mark Caulfield of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry points out that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. "With a growing burden of high blood pressure and a growing availability of affordable devices, home blood pressure monitoring could be used to diagnose high blood pressure and help decide whom to treat," he writes. "It empowers patients to take on a role in assessment of their blood pressure." http://alexiseofm.newsvine.com/_news/2014/01/09/22238028-panama-canal-authority-proposes-splitting-costs-to-end-dispute In a separate analysis, Staessen looked at how home blood pressure monitoring affected the cardiovascular risk profiles of patients with masked hypertension or with the opposite problem - so-called white coat hypertension. That's when patients have high blood pressure readings at the doctor's office but normal blood pressure at home.

Ritz Paris offers sneak peek at new decor on revamped website

For one glorious (notorious?) year, this wild pro football league was in full, furious function. The year was 2001, and now, all these years later, only one player from the XFL is still kickin' in the NFL. And that player site web is Broncos starting middle linebacker Paris Lenon. "It was entirely different than the National Football League," said Lenon, 36. "I'm pretty sure people have a lot of jokes about the league, but at the time for me, it was a situation where I had the opportunity to play in NFL Europe or stay in the states and make more money. And that's what it boiled down to." He was a member of the Memphis Maniax (I'm still trying to figure out how to spell the singular version of that nickname). Lenon had played at the University of Richmond, and after being cut by the Carolina Panthers, he revived his career with the Maniax, which led to jobs in the NFL for the next decade.

Berlin Supermarkets Discover Banana Boxes Stuffed With Cocaine

Supermarket staff discovered the containers with a total of 140 kg of cocaine on Monday shortly before the fruit went on sale to the public, police and customs investigators said. It was the largest discovery of cocaine in Germany's capital in about 15 years and has an estimated black market value of 6 million euros, according to police. "We were of course surprised," senior police officer Olaf Schremm, who heads the local drug investigation department, told reporters. "I don't know where the mistake was in the perpetrators' delivery chain." The banana cartons, part of a consignment of 1,134 boxes, were brought by ship from Colombia to Hamburg and delivered to a fruit wholesaler in Berlin. Cocaine was found in seven of them, Schremm said. The boxes were eventually delivered to five supermarkets in the Berlin area, but investigators said the intended destination of the cocaine was unclear.

Alberta police arrest 52-year-old man after child pornography investigation indicates threat to four-year-old

James Talbot, the chief medical officer of health for Alberta Health, said the outbreak is not a pandemic, but H1N1 is the recurring strain people are getting this year and it is beginning to strain the healthcare system, CBC reported. "Virtually all of the influenza that we're seeing in the province this year is H1N1," Talbot told the CBC. The 10 people, who died from influenza, were of 18 to 64 years of age, unlike other flu seasons when most flu fatalities were 65 and older, Alberta health officials said. The Public Health Agency of Canada said influenza activity, specifically the H1N1 strain, is widespread only in Alberta, but other provinces are experiencing increased influenza as well. Talbot said in the past week those seeking a flu shot -- only 23 percent of Canadians are immunized against the flu -- has increased and some clinics in Alberta ran out of vaccine. However, Tuesday clinics in Alberta are scheduled to again be offering flu vaccinations for free. Some drug stores in the province also provide flu vaccines for about $20.
